CEO Termly Message

Dear All,

As we hurtle towards the Easter break I wonder if we will actually see Spring! We have the threat of snow this weekend in some areas and we seem to be seeing every single season’s weather in March! Hopefully April will be much kinder but, as my grandmother always said, don’t cast a clout until May is out…

I am very sad to announce that Paul Durgan, the trust’s Financial Director, is retiring at the end of April. Paul has served the trust with distinction and has even taken on the role of CEO in 2015. Without Paul’s calm leadership in difficult times, both financially and in the wider context of the trust, we would not be here today. I am sure you will all join me in thanking Paul for all he has done for the trust and wishing him a long and happy retirement.

As always, I would also like to say thank you to all staff, students, parents and other people who have made such a contribution to their academies this term. We inevitably look to exam preparation in the Spring but I know there have been some wonderful experiences for our young people in every academy.

I wish you all a very happy, peaceful and holy Easter break. This time of year is all about renewal and rebirth as we look at the first days of spring, lighter evenings and longer days. Everything begins to look better as we head to the summer!

On Easter Sunday Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus and his appearance to his disciples. I always find it encouraging to remember the first words Jesus said to the disciples who were hiding together in fear after his death: ‘Peace be with you’.

Easter brings peace and renewal, I pray you’ll find both during this well-earned break.
